I’ve got several new foundations, primers and BB creams I’ve been meaning to review over the last month or so but every one I’ve tried has looked awful – dry, patchy and flaky. I came to the sorry conclusion that the products are fine, sadly it is my own skin that’s at fault.
I’d been trying out new moisturisers to find the best one, but the lack of consistency in my skin care routine, combined with the sudden cold snap had made my sensitive skin feel rough and tight. Time to forget about make up reviews and concentrate on making my skin better.
I tried a couple of moisturisers from Origins (lovely – smell amazing, feel nice when they’re applied but no lasting benefits and rather pricey), Simple (cheap, good for sensitive skin, but ultimately…meh!) before getting a few samples from the Body Shop (the Body Shop gladly give out samples of their products and I found the staff very helpful in helping me select several products to try.)
Finally I settled on two creams, Vitamin E Sink In Moisture Mask which has a curiously jelly-like quality to it (normally £12 but currently 50% off) to be used at night, and Vitamin E Intense Moisture Cream, with a thick cream consistency (also £12) to use during the day.
After a few days use the difference in my skin was amazing, no more dry patches on my cheeks and forehead, my skin felt softer and more supple again and I was once again able to use foundation without it flaking off. Over the next few weeks I’ll try out some new foundations, as now my skin can do justice to them.
If anybody, like me, has dry skin, I’d highly recommend these creams. If not, get down to the Body Shop anyway, try some free samples and discover some new ‘must-have’ goodies!
