November 2012 saw the opening of the new Harvey Nichols store in Liverpool – great news for us make up artists (and females in general). I went along on the opening day for a bit of a nosey about and then again a few days later for a lovely Origins facial (still on offer if anyone’s interested) – all free and you receive a limited edition Swarovski encrusted headband. Surely that’s reason enough to go?
It’s such a nice store, perfect for a bit of a pamper, or just to browse. I’ve been visiting about once a week just to immerse myself in the sumptuousness of it all. I recommend it to anyone, especially if you’re lacking in present ideas.
During November, I also attended a Paul Mitchell workshop, sampling all the delicious shampoos, conditioners, serums and sprays. Again, amazing products that smell divine and make your hair feel beautiful – the sort of thing to confidently put on a Christmas list!
After so much pampering loveliness, it was definitely time for something more grotesque. This came in the form of ‘Adam’ – a short film I worked on with a couple of contacts from Violet City. ‘Adam’ is a dark tale of family abuse, requiring lots of scabs, blood, dirt and scars. Again I was reminded how varied my job is, crystals, creams and serums one day, disease and death the next. I wouldn’t want it any other way!
